We made it to five breweries while in town.
Onsite Brewery Company – We walked from our hotel to this mid-town climbing themed brewery. While it had both indoor and outdoor seating, it was a nice day and we took advantage of sitting outside on a picnic table. Denise ordered the Rappel Lager and Justin has the Ice Fall Pale Ale. We cheered to Justin’s 50th state and a new state or us to go to together. We enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and friendly staff.
Broken Tooth Brewery – No just tasting room for Broken Tooth, their beer is served at Moose’s Tooth Pub and Pizzeria, Bear Tooth Theatre Pub and Bear Tooth Grill. The Pub was busy, we sat at the bar. Denise ordered the Artic Apple ale which was crisp and refreshing, she really enjoyed it. And Justin ordered the Pribil of Pounder lager, which he said was easy drinking. On top of good beer, their pizza was really good.
Ship Creek Brewery – We popped in here on our second day, before we went to dinner. The small taproom also does pizza that smelled really good, but with a reservation just 40 minutes away, we couldn’t taste it. Denise ordered the Creek Water and Justin ordered the IPL for Ales. We both thought the beer was pretty good.
Midnight Sun Brewing Company – Tucked away a little bit in an industrial warehouse area, Midnight Sun Brewing Company is on the second floor of their warehouse. The seating area was a nice size. They served food here, and their menu sounded good, but we had just eaten before coming here. We both ordered the Wolf Pack Lager and had just one.
49th State Brewery – located downtown, is a three story building for the restaurant and they also have a large outdoor patio area for a more relaxed vibe. Since we were eating dinner here and had to wait about 25 minutes, we ordered a drink from the outside area and sat on a picnic table. Denise ordered the Lager (ended up being her favorite of the Anchorage area beers) and Justin got the 907 Pale Ale. (we actually ended up at all three of their locations. The other two are at the Airport and in Healy near Denali National Park and Preserve).
